Installation Technician

Overview
The Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) family of trainers offers an immersive virtual reality maritime training environment. They provide the full continuum of navigation, seamanship, ship handling, piloting, and tactical Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) training for naval personnel.
The COVE Installation Technician provides support to these trainers including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for the trainer, Virtual Reality Headsets, stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals. Installation responsibilities include preparing the installation site such as removing the existing equipment, displays, wall mounted TVs, white boards, and furniture; coordinating disposition of removed equipment; disposing of equipment after receiving approval. Support responsibilities include software installation, and configurations. The technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of the trainers either by telephone, or on-site.
Responsibilities
Install and test trainers at remote sites
Install and network personal computers, printers, and other peripherals
Removal and disposition of existing equipment
Configure operating system
Load application software programs
Troubleshoots hardware problems
Performs hardware and software diagnostics
Coordinates needed repairs
Resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate's degree in computer related discipline or two years of related training. Related experience may substitute for the degree requirement or training on a year-for-year basis. Two years of recent experience as a computer operator or related data center experience is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Knowledge of computer operating systems and software for error handling and recovery; operating computer system peripheral devices.
Ability to operate and monitor multiple computer systems and peripheral devices concurrently; plan and schedule work priorities to meet deadlines and emergencies; analyze and resolve hardware/software problems.
Flexibility in scheduling work hours and available for extensive travel.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license, and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier.
May be required to work extended workdays frequently.

Physical Demands
Lifting and moving trainer equipment, displays, and TVs. Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus); occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. Work Environment
Work environment includes high computer related noise levels, paper and equipment generated dust and the use of cleaning fluids and other materials for cleaning equipment. Works with electric, electronic and mechanical equipment. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. May be required to work various shifts and/or weekends to provide uninterrupted computer services. Extended standing and walking, lifting of paper and equipment (30-50 pounds). Learned physical skill required for keyboarding. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
